MP backs biodiesel tax break project

Liberal Democrat MP Andrew George is backing a campaign to keep tax breaks for business who produce biodiesel.

Producers transforming cooking oil into biodiesel presently gain from a 20p differential but that is because of end next April.

The St Ives MP, who leads the Lib Dem Team, has been meeting with the UK sustainable biodiesel alliance.

Mr George said "a variety of little companies in Cornwall presently earn money from used cooking oil".

He included: "In order to be able to get this kind of industry going it does require just a bit of lift which can be found in the type of tax inescapable."

Biodiesel is a blend of conventional diesel, rapeseed and veggie oils.
